Mental Break at the Fair

Last night the family and I went down to the water front for the Chow Wagon.  Knowing that I would most likely not be able to find the appropriate amount of carbs, fats, and proteins while I was there, I just said screw it.  Seriously.  And it felt great.

All day, I stayed on point with my numbers.  But when it came time to head out, I put the MFP app away and didn’t worry about it.  No need in seeing the numbers logged into the app because I knew they would be bad.  And I didn’t want to spend my time walking around trying to figure out how to log deep fried cookie dough.  Sometimes the mental break away is much needed.

Not pictured: Cookie dough milkshake.

I think that picture of my oldest shows how much she liked it.  The chocolate was super sweet though.  Sugar overload for sure.

Oh wait, can’t forget my wife’s favorite: funnel cake.  At this point, I had only had about half of the deep fried cookie dough but had most of the milkshake, so I only had a few pieces of the funnel cake.  I knew I was going to go all in with the deep fried Oreos later.

These things are just sinfully fantastic.  An Oreo covered with red velvet cake, deep fried, served with a giant glop of cream icing.  Last year I remember eating all of these and wanting more.  This year I could only handle three, and since my entire family was also suffering from pre-sugar-overdose, I ended up tossing the last one in the trash.  It was very sad and we said a few kind words about its life then shed a few tears.

I had so much fun last night because it was a break in the routine.  It is pretty rare that I eat this much of stuff this bad.  And when I got home I wasn’t feeling all that great physically.  All that sugar is horrible for me and I know it.

But every now and then I have to cut loose and indulge.
