Oh hey, I still have a blog.
I took all kinds of photos and videos while we were out of town in Georgia recently with plans to write up how much fun we had dropping into various gyms. Been so busy that I haven’t had time to get around to it. But anyway…
This week is a deload week and I thought I would use to try out a couple of new things, such as a cambered bench. I have seen this at the gym and been itching to use it. Given that there was a chest exercise listed in the Juggernaut PB AI app today with a deep stretch, I thought this might be fun. I was surprised at how uneven it felt and how much more work it was to stabilize it.
With Lauren working out with me, I am able to try some things that I have never tried before. For example, weighted push-ups I can only do with so much weight because I cannot put a ton of plates on my back. Today, I asked Lauren to load another 45 on my back for deep stretch push-ups. We had been doing sets of 10, but with 90lbs on my back, I got 5. I would love to be able to do 5 push-ups with 3 plates on my back at some point.
This has been one of the best deload weeks I think I have ever had. I tribute that mostly to Lauren being at the gym with me. We are holding each other accountable and that has been great for me, especially given that she is paying so much attention to what I am teaching her and showing her. I feel as if so much is on the line here and do not want to mess it up. When I was weightlifting, the deload weeks always felt like garbage. This one has been so good and I actually feel like I am rested up. I don’t feel destroyed and hurting all of the time. It has been such a great change of pace.
