A while back when Gina mentioned I might qualify for the free digital BP cuff and scale through Omada, I signed up and began tracking. The BP going through the roof was enough to send me to the doctor. I feel my BP has always been high but I don’t recall ever truly spending a ton of time working on lowering it. As in, honestly working on bringing it into a normal range. Normal for me was 150/90 or somewhere around there. I went through a battery of tests last Christmas and I have had my bloodwork drawn more times this past year than I have in the last 5 years.
All to find that everything appears to be normal. Except my BP is elevated.
I am waiting to schedule an appointment with a cardiologist at the recommendation of my PCP. Until then, I have been trudging along trying to make small improvements without sacrificing so much that it feels like I am giving everything up. This week, we started a different nutrition plan. I have seen more normal BP readings but when I say that, I usually mean that it has been lowered, never truly normal.
This reading from last night was the lowest I have ever seen my BP in about 20 years. It was such a low reading, in fact, that I thought something was wrong with the machine and it confused me at first. I realize that this is just a single reading. I want to see this consistent over time. But this really gave me a big boost that I needed.
