This popped up as a Facebook memory last week. I had been seeing some great progress with the deadlift, pushing my squat back to 500, as well as slowly inching the bench press up toward my goal. The week before this, I had pulled a DL PR and it felt good. I knew I had more in the tank but had never tried to pull anything heavy like that so close to each other. A few friends came in and we got it done. After this, I maxed out slingshot bench and hit a PR on that as well.
This was from February 22, 2019:
Atmosphere is everything.
On Wednesday, I managed to PR my deadlift. So when Emme wanted to max out this weekend, I wasn’t sure how smart it was to go off program and max out, much less how much I still had left in the tank. But, being able to lift heavy with other people who know exactly what number you are going for is entirely different than the solo grind I am used to.
One of my goals this year was to pull 600. I pulled 601 this morning so it looks like I will have to find a new number to chase.
Extremely thankful to Emme for grabbing my camera so I could have a decent photo of this and for Lindsey and Tyler to come in so early and lift. Today, it made all the difference.
I doubt I will ever pull this weight from the floor ever again. When I look back, I was 50lbs heavier in this photo than I am right now as I type this. It is hard to think that I won’t touch that weight again, but I am coming to grips with that and taking the fact that I am far healthier than I was as the plus side.
