The new watch has the ability to track data that I have previously not been able to see. Over the past 2 years, I used the watch to just track basic activities and steps. I did not venture out much beyond that and figured the additional data was for hardcore athletes, not a work-from-home dad like me. Lately, I have become far more interested in the numbers. Weight on the scale and weight on the barbell have historically been the only numbers I have paid the most attention to. Lately, I have focused on blood pressure and other numbers associated with the bike.
VO2 Max is some of the new data available to me. Last week I looked and found that it said I was “in the bottom 49% for your age and gender.” It also listed my “Fitness Age” as 48. Since I have a few more months before I reach 45, I wasn’t thrilled with that, but given how old and broken I feel on certain days, I guess it makes sense. I also have to remind myself that I spent years doing zero cardio and that the bike only came into the picture as of July. After a week of recording data, it was nice to see my VO2 Max increase slightly.
Also relieved to see that I am getting younger.
