  • W/U: 2 pulls + 2 PP + 2 BTNJ
  • Sn Pull + Eccentric down: 3×3 @ 200
  • Complex: PP + BTNJ + J: 155, 185, 207, 228, 251, 275, 286, 297, 305x, 300x
  • Jerk dip squat: 5×3 @ 346

This was a pretty freaking good day, all things considered.  I woke up with a splitting headache.  My wife said that our girls had the same issue and that it was allergies and/or the weather system coming in.  I’m probably hyper-sensitive to how I feel now and changes.  I got an extra hour of sleep which felt amazing, though.  On the complex, I was determined to hit 300+ and after I hit 297 for a 2lb PR, I knew it would happen.  That is until I attempted it.

It always feels a lot further away than it actually is, right?  I didn’t realize I was that close to 305 but sadly, that is where I failed.  I just didn’t have any more gas to drive the bar up.  It feels good to know that 300, and more, is that close.

  • W/U x3: Sn pull + 3 HHMS + 3 OHS + 3 SnPP
  • SB: 2×2 @ 85#
  • Sn 5×2: 115, 135, 155, 175, 5x2x185 (86%)
  • SnDL 3×3: 225, 247, 275
  • Accessory: GHD 4×12, Upside down KB press: 4×8 / 35#, Hamstring curls: 3×15 (blue band)

My left knee was feeling a little out of whack this morning, but nothing terrible that stopped me from moving.  This warm-up before snatching is going to be a must for me.  It really gets me moving better.  I think had I not skipped this during my last heavy single day I would have been better.  I wanted to work doubles at 185, mainly because that is something I haven’t done before.  It works out to about 86% of my true 1RM, so doable.  The first 4 sets were pretty good, but that last set was murder.  In fact, I missed the first attempt.  I even started to strip the bar but didn’t want to let it defeat me, so I loaded it back up, got focused, and hit the final double.

  • W/U: 2 PP + 2 BTNJ + 2 Press from the split
  • PC+FS+CJ to heavy single: 155, 185, 225, 247, 267, 280, 290 PR
  • Hang snatch high pull (knee): 3×4 @ 185, 200, 200
  • FS: 5×2 @ 350

My complex was a little sloppy, but I got it for a PR.  I have wanted 295 for quite a while now.  Looking at the video I would like to think that I could have done it, but 290 felt pretty tough.  I think it was a smart thing to stop there.

  • Snatch: 2×115, 2×135, 155, 175, 185, 195x
  • CJ: 155, 185
  • Clean + Hang Clean + Jerk: 225, 250, 275, 285, 295 PR
  • Sn DL: 3 @ 275, 2×3 @ 295

For some reason, I just couldn’t get warmed up and moving right on the snatches.  My plan today was to work up to 85%, which I did, so I can’t be too upset. I missed 195 which really bugged me.  But it is what it is.  So I moved on to CJ and started to feel a little better.  But I really wasn’t amped about working to 85% for some reason.  I looked at the class program for lifting and saw the complex, which looked pretty good.  I can’t remember the last time I tested a hang clean, so I figured I would give it a shot. I was surprised to hit 295.
