Today was probably just as big of a day as my PR last Sunday. Usually when I hit a big PR, I know that the following training day will be rough. That has just always been the case for me. So today I had the same expectations going in. Except today wasn’t just any training day. The program had doubles up to 80%, then the heavy singles on both lifts, up to 90% then back to 85%. Part of me wondered if I would even be capable of hitting these after having such an awesome day on Sunday. But this is why I train: to be consistent at the heavier weights. On the snatch, the percentage for 85% was actually 183lbs, but I wanted to go to 185. That difference in 2lbs was more mental than anything else. For the longest time, loading a 45 and a 25 would get into my head so bad and I would struggle when I got there. I never knew why, but it just went down that way. But I am focused on improving the mental aspect as well, so going up 2lbs was more than just the weight. It was conquering something that had previously screwed with my head more than it should have.

Today was tough. It was light and not a lot to it, so I think I might have lost some motivation because of that. I seem to really dig the longer workouts that I have to fight through. These light workouts that can be done quickly aren’t as satisfying. Still, I know they are part of the process. I did the snatches and CJ EMOM style. The final 2 CJs got me winded a little so it was slightly over a minute but no biggie.

Snatches felt awesome. CJ felt like garbage. Who am I? That NEVER happens. I missed the clean on my 3rd single at 80% because I just wasn’t focused. Too freaking worried about using a different tape on thumbs and just got lazy. Really annoyed at myself when that happens. I feel like I should never miss 80%. Came back and hit the BS without trouble, which I was pretty happy about. Been a while since I hit 400 for reps like that.

- Snatch: 70% , 75%, 80%, HS – I did muscle snatch 3×3 & power snatch 3×3 @ 85, then singles at 115, 135, 155, 165, 175, 190, 195, 205x, 200x
- CJ: 70% , 75%, 80%, HS – Singles at 185, 225, 255, 275, 300, 315x
- FS: Work up to a single at 90% (380) – 2×275, 2×315, 365, 380
I knew going in that after the PRs last week that today would be tough. My goal was to hit 90% of each lift and I did that. I also wanted to take some big jumps on the CJ and did that. 300 felt like cake but 315 felt like dog crap. I also wanted to skip the FS and almost did. But I had plenty of time and realized my legs felt pretty good so I took some bigger jumps and got them over with.
