Cardio is hardio

This week I have been trying to add a little more cardio into the mix. It has been painfully obvious that I have lost so much conditioning. To be fair, I sucked at it when I was doing it on a regular basis, but it is extra hard now.

This morning I normally sleep in, but I have found that I am cranky later on from not being active.  But when I made the decision to go into the gym in the past on a “rest day”, I always ended up doing something with a barbell and was too sore the following day.  This morning I made up my mind that I was not touching a barbell.  I also didn’t want to go too crazy and wear myself out.  Just get moving and break a sweat.  So I hopped on the rower and did one of the preset workouts.  It is a 1:1 work/rest starting at 1:00, going up to 4:00 and then back down.  Pretty good test and certainly got my heart rate up.

Once I saw the total that I had rowed, I did a cool down to make it an even 5,000m for the day.  I followed that up with some pull-ups and pallof presses.  Pretty glad that I went in and got some work done.
