Still programless until this coming week, but wanting to move. I met up with another lifter at the gym this morning and did some of what was on his program.
Clean EMOM x15:
- 5×1 @ 70% (215)
- 5×1 @ 75% (228)
- 5×1 @ 80% (245)
If you felt good, you could work up to a heavy single. It has been a while since I did an EMOM like this and it really got my heart rate going. It was the closest thing I have done to a “WOD” in a while but really enjoyed it. I think the programming with a lot of EMOMs in it will be something I take on after this next cycle. I honestly thought that the 80% cleans would be a whole lot harder than they actually were.
After the EMOM, I made jumps to 265x, 265, 276, 286, 295, 306, 310x. I was pretty shocked at how good all of these felt. I have had a nasty head cold and congestion all week. Not to mention only working out one other time. I was not expecting or planning to come anywhere close to my max clean so a 1lb PR was pretty exciting. I went up to 310 did a great clean pull with it, but that was about it. It felt WAY heavier than the 306 did off the floor.
He had more stuff on his program to do, but I skipped all of that. No real reason. Just got in, did some work on cleans, and then left. I had a meeting with one of the gym owners after that so I didn’t want to drag my workout into a 2 hour deal. Was really just happy to take the PR and call it a day.
